Halloween is almost here and that means it’s time for ghosts and pumpkins, candy treats, and fun! What is more fun than completing crafts?
Halloween provides a huge opportunity for kids big and small to get their creativity running. Here are some creepy cool ideas for crafts that you can print out and create by yourself, with your kids, or during a Halloween party. They are simple, fun crafts that can become as elaborate as you like or be a simple project to entertain.
Check out all the printable mask templates available on-line. Print out the ones you like in color or in black and white. You can get very creative with the templates, glue them to a sturdy card stock and embellish them with feathers, foil, glitter, craft jewels, anything you like. Get in touch with your Dr. Frankenstein, and put together a festive Halloween mask.
You will need to print out some Halloween critters for this one. Bats, cats, ghosts, pumpkins, or witches, you can pick out any that you like. Cut your spooky images out and color them. Take a paper plate, color it, and poke holes around the edges, one for each picture. Poke two holes in the center side by side. Now string a ribbon through both holes and tie it off, this creates the string to hang your mobile. Thread ribbon in each hole and knot at the top so the ribbon does not fall through. Finally glue your images to each ribbon.
31 Day Count Down
Maybe prepare for next year on this one but print out an October calendar for this craft. Count down the days until Halloween with your own haunted countdown calendar. Glue the print out to a festive 12×12 sheet of paper, add creepy embellishments, and use stickers to block out each passing day.
Decorate your home with bats. Find and print bat templates, available on-line, in various sizes. Use black card stock and cut them out. Attach them anywhere you like. There are also mice templates available.
Happy Halloween Banner
First print out pennant templates or find premade banner pennants. Better Homes and Gardens provides a free printable banner perfect for Halloween. Trim your pennants and decorate. Then add them to a length of ribbon. Done! This is a simple but fun way to say “Happy Halloween”!
Carving pumpkins has been a tradition for Halloween for ages. Half the fun of pumpkin carving is coming up with the most creative design. There are books you can buy at local stores, but now you can go on-line and find a huge variety of design templates ready to download and print.
No Bones About it
This craft is especially fun for the kids. Print out a skeleton and cut out all his pieces. Glue the bones to magnets, you may want to first glue the pieces to a heavy card stock for durability. Place your skeleton on the fridge and let the kids have fun putting him together. This is also a good opportunity for them to learn about skeletal structure.
Another fun idea for the kids. Print out monster parts, these were found through Pinterest, and get a few empty toilet paper rolls. Cut out all the monster parts. Now just mix and match the parts and glue them to a toilet paper roll.
