‘EXERCISE’ BY ROBERT STADLER: THE SUBTLE LIGHTNESS OF MARBLE
So thin it almost appears light, so striped it’s as if the marble had just had delicate face-lift surgery. It’s called Striato Olimpo, a quality of African marble used by Robert Stadler for his collection of tables and stools “Exercise” (2011), available at Carpenters Workshop Gallery.
To design this limited edition the Viennese designer established a basic aesthetic code, on which he applied some variations to determine the final look of the single pieces. The most interesting detail is the work on the thickness: some parts are so fine they become translucent.
