Behind The Scenes: The Little Engineer That Could (The Drawing Hope Project)
Riley O’Brien is a 4 year old boy, who has been waiting nearly 3 years for a double lung AND heart transplant. Photographer and artist Shawn Van Daele from The Drawing Hope Project recently drove 13 hours from Ontario Canada to New Jersey, to meet with Riley, and turn his imagination and love of Thomas the Tank into a magical photograph for a storybook filled with hope. Watch the incredibly inspiring behind-the-scenes of the trip, photo shoot, Riley’s story, and the finished artwork.
The Drawing Hope Project is an ambitious and inspiring project, taking drawings done by children born or living with health conditions, and transforming them into magical photographs. Each child is becoming a character in a storybook, that will be available in spring 2013, with proceeds returning to the hospitals, foundations, and groups that support each child featured in the book. Learn more about this inspiring project at www.DrawingHope.ca or on the (busy) Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DrawingHopeProject. Nearly 20 of the 30 photo shoots have already been completed – see them all on the website or facebook page, and read the children’s incredible stories, seeing their “before” drawings, and “after” magical photographs.
