Modern art by Andrey Shwidkiy
The charming paintings created by Andrey Shwidkiy, a well-known Ukrainian artist, represent to the admirer of modern art a marvelous interweaving of philosophical images. Revealing a personal dream about self-triplicity, which includes self-knowledge, self-consciousness and self-actualization, the artist demonstrates mythical and timeless interdependence which appears between human beings. Another idea incarnated in the enigmatic works of the Ukrainian artist could be described as an impressive attempt to depict the desire for cognition and acceptance of self’s essence.
The inward world of an individual is like a concealed treasure that seems to be absolutely inapproachable, but the artist tries to show us the hidden facets of this vague substance. The life of human spirit embodied in colors captivates the spectator’s sight in the same way as the sound of an entrancing tune gladdens the music connoisseur’s ear. The topic itself may seem rather simple and plain – from day to day everyone has an opportunity to observe different people and their surroundings. The point is that it is not easy at all to reproduce the unique tinge of the relationships between the participants of the everyday performance called “Life”. Someone may find the key to the understanding of the interconnections between the spiritual world and the world of things in the diversity of colors and tints or in the contrast between murky shapes and crystal clear details represented at the paintings. For a long time Andrey Shwidkiy worked to develop these philosophical thoughts in different genres such as still life, landscapes and figurative painting.
Modern Ukrainian art can be fairly called as rapidly developing and highly demanded. In many respects it is the result of the work of artists who are totally devoted to what they are doing. The name of Andrey Shwidkiy is among of them. From the years of his childhood to the present day Shwidkiy didn’t ceased painting.
The artist was born in 1960 on the 10th of March. Shwidkiy’s native town is Lugansk. He became interested in art when he was only twelve years old and after finishing the eight form of the secondary school he decided to get specialized art education. So, Shwidkiy entered Lugansk state art school where he started to extend his knowledge of the subtleties of art.
In 1980 Andrey Shwidkiy arrived in Kharkiv where he continued his education at the Institute of Industrial Art. During the years of studying there the artist began his professional career – his works were shown to the public at the exhibitions, the first serious deals were arranged and the first worshippers of his artworks appeared. Since then Andrey Shwidkiy is the guest of honor at various regional and republican exhibitions. In 1999 Shwidkiy became a member of the National Union of Ukrainian Artists. Only during the last ten years the he took part in such significant events in the art world as prominent exhibitions in Holland, Spain, Poland and Germany. In spite of the wide renown of his work, Andrey Shwidkiy stays at his native town – Lugansk. Talking about his fellow-artists, Shwidkiy makes special mention of Alexander Filbert and Ivan Gubskoy, whose works he appreciate greatly for their originality.
