Surreal art by Dilka Bear
Dilka Bear is an Italian artist and illustrator, at the moment working with Mondo Bizzaro gallery in Rome.
The subject of virtually all of her paintings are delicate doll-faced characters and their strange little pets in a dreamy setting. A lot of Dilka’s work was inspired by the movie “The Science of Sleep” which truly is a creative and captivating movie.
The gentle, delicate and fragile characters captured in a pensive moment of solitude resemble dolls that have come alive on the pages of an old fairy-tale book. Each of the paintings looks like there is a whole story behind it, full of emotional and touching details.
The little ladies in the paintings never smile, and are usually accompanied only by an unusual pet, which adds an air of sadness, melancholy and loneliness to the paintings, which are nevertheless beautiful and captivating.
