50 Striking Vintage and Retro Logo Designs

Old really is the new new, and we are about to show you exactly why! These days there are so many web 2.0 logo designs. If you don’t know what that is, then let us explain. These logos probably include on of the following elements: shiny, gradients, drop shadows, rounded corners, futuristic looks, and much more. Just from those examples alone you can probably get a good picture in your head of what I’m talking about. To give you an example, check out the previous Twitter logo a couples years back. The logo is not bad or ugly by any means, but it proves our point precisely.

Retro design is back in action, and the trend will only get hotter. More and more people are now starting to respect/admire old fashioned designs like websites, flyers, logos, business cards, and posters. We admire the designers back in the 20th century and salute them for doing a great job. Just imagine how much more harder their work had to be. With no computer software around, I’m sure designs took them weeks to accomplish if not months. From their passion and hard work, it’s very pleasing to see the style coming back into action!

Here are some handy tips and trick to keep at mind if you are designing your own retro styled logo:

  1. Use shapes and illustrations: Symbolize by using triangles, squares, diamonds, rectangles, circles, hexagons, octagons, and etc.
  2. Select attractive color shemes: Retro colors are not too bright, so try selecting a neutral color that is easy to look at.
  3. Use of typography: Typography is always a vital part of a logo design, especially when it’s a retro logo. By using fonts that would make a statement alone, is a great way to go! To give you and idea check out our previous article: 28-free-fantastic-retro-styled-fonts
  4. Use of Borders: Borders give the logo a great look and feel. They will add more excitement to your work, and could be used to showcase an area you want the viewer to focus on. Also the use of ribbons is strongly encouraged, they truly make the logo stand out and look official!
  5. Textures Patterns, and Noise: By adding noise in the background you are creating the fading effect that makes the logo look old. Textures and patters are always a must, whether it’s lines, squares, circles, or any other little shapes they will add to the experience.

We hope these tips will help you in your workflow, in the meantime enjoy the following logo designs!
