Silver Metamorphosis is the culmination of years of work, discovery and accidents. Through this project I have found a unique process that allows me new ways of seeing the world. My method of working with these images was developed when I was still using the silver film medium. The method is thus not a product of the digital machinations that we are bombarded with today. The present collection focuses on insects: creatures that so many people find repulsive. In this series, by transforming the subjects from organic to metallic, I bring out textures, shapes and designs that a straight photograph often does not. The work presents a visual paradox; frightening yet elegant, powerful yet fragile. These silver insects allow us to see them for what they truly are: ancient jewels sublime in their textures and details.
